Welcome!

Hi and thanks for visiting my blog. I thought that it would be fun to start an open forum of survival topics and outdoor skills that others can refer to for information and instruction. I will post a survival topic or skill and give some information on it. I will also be posting excerpts from my survival manual that I have been writing. Feel free to comment on it, or ask about a topic that I have not yet covered. Even professionals can learn a new way to do something. In this way we can all help each other. If you have a specific experience that you would like to share please feel free to do so at your own risk of others' comments. If you disagree with someone please be civil and respectful. One last thing, please keep it "G" rated i.e., no foul language or inappropriate subjects. If you break the rules I will pull your post. So let's keep it clean and have some fun!

March Club Meeting

March 23

1800-2100

Glen Canyon Park

This month I have to change the date due to scheduling conflicts.  So it will be Saturday instead of Friday.  And the topic will be how to make a shelter with only one piece of cord a rectangle tarp and four stakes that will cover you on 5 sides and allow you to have a fire that will heat the shelter.  These techniques are some old school methods that have been lost on us who buy things already done for us.  This will change the items that you carry in you car and maybe even what you take with you into the woods.  As always bring a Foil Dinner, water, knife and a friend.  We will see you there.  PS this is the closest I could find to the tent that we will be constructing.

A Great Backpacking Stove

This is a Great Product that everyone should have!

I ran into Mikhail Merkurieff at the Rennaisance fair this last September in Provo Canyon where he told me about his stove.  I did some looking into this and it is an amazing thing to have in your kit.  I think that everyone should get one of these and put it into your go bag that your have with you at all times.  You should watch this video.

PS I like his method for making omelets.  Since I watched this I have used this method when I am out camping.  You can have eggs without the shells.
